Meet Zambian Born Nigerian Music Sensation LAE

His Name is Lasisi Ajetajobo Emmanuel, AKA LAE,  From Ogun state, Abeaokuta, born in Zambia,

Nigerian by blood. And he his our Vibez24 Artiste For the month He came by our studios and this we had a lot of fun talking to him. Here is a transcript of the interview
When and why did you start your music career?
Started music fully in the year, 2013/2014, before then it was bathroom performances. 
Started it because it’s been my passion since I was a kid. So the passion for music is what made me go into music. 
Which instruments do you play?
i play the drum and the keyboard, not too well, but I’m learning! 
What was the first tune(s) you learned?
No tune oh, na as my head tell me I go do. Didn’t actually have a tutor, I more or less taught myself the few things I know. 
Is your family musical?
My nuclear family; non just me, my mum has a splendid voice though, but she’s not a professional singer. Then extended family, my uncle is a musician, based In South Africa “Lyrics Lasisi” 
Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
I have always admired R.Kelly, cause his 100% talented, 2Face of course, he is a legend, don Jazzy, always dreamt of being signed to his label, he turns dirt to gold! And his multi-talented 
Which famous musicians have you learned from?
Basically all of them, cause if you get to hear their success stories you tend to grasp one or two things from there if not all! 
Describe your song writing process?
I just write according to my mood and how I feel at that particular time, sometimes based on personal experience, also through other songs hear 
How did you come about your stage name?.
LAE came from the initials in my name: Lasisi Ajetajobo Emmanuel, back then in secondary school I was fond of singing love songs in class, and so I was looking for a stage name and when I put the initials of my name together, it formed a word. And I just said it in class and I sunk in….class mates/hostel mates started calling me Lae the love singer and that’s how the name LAE came to stay lol 
What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town?
That was the first time I had a live performance
11. Were you influenced by old records & tapes? Which ones?
well basically at the time I was writing soul music, I was inspired by R. Kelly, Celin Dion, Whitney Houston and so many old school musicians, but you know naija na, I had to change my style of music and I started listening to more or 2 face, idris, d banj, many other artist 
12. Who are your favorite musicians? Groups?
2face, Davido, Reekado banks, Tekno, 
13. Have you been in competitions? F? Any prizes?
Nope! I’ve never been in any competition! I’m always late lol
14. Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV?
Yeah I have actually performed in public, I’ve performed In school shows, open mics, street carnivals. 
16. How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
lol, I don’t know I just do my thing, though they was a time I forgot the lyrics to my song, I just started lip syncing whatever came to my head, thank God it was a life band performance though! But apart from that day, I don’t think I’ve made any mistake! I just enjoy myself wen am on stage! 
17. Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
yes oh, very very, especially wen it’s a new audience! 
What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?
just have fun! At that moment you have to be you! Enjoy your song! Cause if you enjoying your song, you can’t do wrong. 
Do you attend sessions? What makes a good session?
When you’ve got people better than you doing music, that atmosphere is just dope! Inspiration flows 
How often and for how long do you practice?
Well not often, I am usually busy with school stuff, but whenever I have the chance, I make it worth while 
What do you practice – exercises, new tunes, hard tunes, etc.?
New sounds, voice texture
How do you balance your music with other obligations – School?
Mmmm, it’s not easy… many times I have to forfeit events cause I have tests and school work. It’s really crazy 
One word of advice
Pray, Believe in yourself, Do you, and your dreams will be achieved within a flash
